1. There's a huge difference between bad Sway and good Sway ... good Sway can go on long runs and win Halls many times.

2. However ... like all gimmicky 'overload' builds ... Sway is limited by its lack of flexibility. No prot + no mesmer = inability to handle certain situations. You can't beat a top balanced team with Sway - impossible. I hate going into matches I know I can't win.

Like all gimmicks:

Average Balanced < Average Sway < Good Sway < Good balanced

Thats really all there is to it.

at the moment, heroway is the only thing that can roll us [hexway]

Right.... when you hit party search and you see:

r8+sway LF N/rt
r3+Sway LF rit
SWAY LF R/D's
r10+sway lf N/Rt


Need I go on? Most of the time when you see LF SH, you can bet it's for the RaO Pressure. In a full run you can bet to see sway/Heroway at least 3 or 4 times.

And the hex necro is normally a hero that really isn't micro'ed and is just let to do whatever it wants and hope barbs gets thrown on the target the RaO is on. Maybe I stated my sentence wrong but I was trying to get that -spike builds NEED coordination to succeed while -way builds are more effective with coordination but can still achieve a decent amount of success without any coordination.

so any build with a hero necro is called Heroway?

meh, i think that is wrong. just because you don;t see it.. doesn;t mean the other team is not co-ordinating on Vent or TS. No, we don;t use thumpers... our guild uses a balanced build which sometimes throws in a tainter... disease pressure is awsome.... just need a good mesmer to Divert or Humilify the RC...

barbs??? hmmm.... maybe we throw barbs on olias for more warrior pressure.

@Chris:

Heroes only use Barbs and Mark of Pain on targets who are getting trained by physicials. (Has been checked and veryfied already)

ANY build with a hero is called heroway.


It's called PvP, PLAYER versus PLAYER. Heroes shouldn't be playing with real people, let alone REPLACE real people.

I mean, it's SO DUMB to have NPC's in a PvP match, WHY not have 8 NPC's facing 8 NPC's then in HoH?

Why the 2 hero cap? To prevent "abuse" and keep it PvP? That's rather odd, because the second U allow ANY form of AI (Besides extra NPC's which both teams have, such as the Ghostly), it shouldn't be called PvP, but Competitive PvE...

Personally my guild runs a balanced or a punshot spike depending on who is on. Both these builds run equally well and the reason is the players. Good players = Success...Good Tactics/Caller = Success.

And for all those players that are incapable of running builds that are a bit tougher like infusing and protting and run easy builds to run like R/W, R/D etc. thats totally fine IMO, you'll just get rolled by more experienced groups because an experienced sway can beat a less experienced balanced and an experienced balanced can beat a less expierenced sway

exactly the reason why one of my guildmates told me he quit our guild just recently. he was raging that it;s sad that a hero can take a human spot on a line up and he coulnd;t get into the team.

there are no matches we go into thinking we will lose. however we did face a team with 2 DA, 2 monks with perma make haste and a rit with warding, and an earth ele with eruption and unsteady ground. and r/d could not even extend cuz para had that stance removal skill'.

as i said UW, is a good map. usually get flawless regardless of team (we flawless dom/ and plenty of top teams)

fetid is worst map, but even then-we have a strategy there. its hard to lose to anything less than r10. r11 + know how to push. i had a good game vs keys there once, unfortunately we lost- but gg to them.

burial is also a bad map for us- as its limited space. certain points are easy to snare backline when they are running from pressure.

relic run- good map overall but usually some mistakes costs us the game. usually have problems with teams of 3 snares (R-spike from that rank 50 odd guild).

any split map and dark chambers = free fame, quiet hard to lose.

dark chambers = mostly flawless(irrespective of what team) unless its r-spike.

courtyard. we win it most of the time these days since we started using vent.

hoh- we can win and hold a couple of rounds but then get ganked outright by some top team who think r/d , is c-space.

heroway and hexway = free fame cuz we carry frozen. drop any target, drop frozen. then own the rest.

we dont play 24/7, we make like 3 runs around 3pm gmt or 10 pm gmt. those times we win. 3pm gmt era time is pure skips to courtyard or hoh.

drawback of the build is it is a slow build. it takes 5 mins to wipe a team on average but 80% of time we flawless teams regardless of rank.

also its hard to get decent r/d that can pressure and kill. hard to get a rit that stays back and puts weapons (99% just run in as if they mending wammos and die). hard to get trappers who can switch between offence and defence. hard to get necros who have decent position. - overall its not easy build to run (however it contains a lot of fun).

ive played balance with a top team, and r-spike with another top team. i found out that pulling both those builds in HA, was a lot easier than pulling sway effectively.

we play the build with positioning very similar to GvG, so we dont incur many losses and matches can take slightly longer.

I would like again to point the failure of ha partly due to the failure to anet to balance ha in the first place. I think the last update with ha in mind was when ew was hit hard. That was about half a decade ago. Anyway I still don't know why Rao still exists, that skill needs to die with about a couple dozen others in this game.

Guild wars Culture blend.

The first gimmick build like SWAY was "IWAY" which is the warrior skill ["I Will Avenge You"] abbreviated. After it got nerfed people jut kept the "way" part of the name and stuck it on other build names as the game progressed.Been like that for almost 3 years now.

Your either farming HA with a spike build or a pressure build. In which case, cause of the several nerfs to sway over the past 6 months, swayers are back to running heroway. You know the funny part about sway/heroway? The reason why most of them don't use vent is because you don't need coordination to beat the average 3,2,1 team. If spike teams weren't farmers themselves sway and heroway would need vent to compete equally with the average spike team.

oh yeah I'm 110% sure no one in this forum runs balance, so...happy farming.
